Who is British Shorthair Cats
At the London exhibition in 1871, where the breed was officially presented to the general public and specialists for the first time, pets managed to attract attention not only with wonderful external data but also with excellent manners. The success was so strong that the next day a photo of the British cat Old Lady appeared in the London newspapers. This event became the starting point of the "new" history of the British breed. When breeding, breeders managed to achieve a huge variety of colors of British cats. The most common, in addition to blue, are tabby (spotted coloring with a white mark in the form of the letter "m" on the forehead), tortoiseshell, and white coat colors. In total, there are more than 100 options.
Why is the British cat successful wherever it appears? Is it just because of the short plush fur and the enigmatic smile of the Cheshire Cat, or are there other reasons? Of course, looking at the British kittens, it is difficult to contain admiration. However, many people of all ages and professions are attracted by these animals with their unique character, sincere benevolence and diplomacy.
An extraordinary mind and aristocratic manners are characteristic features of thoroughbred British cats. They keep a distance with a person, forcing them to respect their right to personal space. If the luxurious appearance of the British cat breed is largely due to the English climate and living conditions to which they had to adapt after the "landing" from the Roman ships, then dignity and independence were transferred to them with the genes of Roman cats. The delicacy of the "British" in relations with anyone - owners, children, other pets - is one of the qualities included in the breed standard. As true Englishmen, they are intelligent, clean, and avoid any conflict situations.
The British cat breed is the perfect choice for workaholics. They can safely leave their pet alone for the whole working day. Animals will find a quiet occupation for themselves, they will not bother their owners with excessive caress when they, tired, return home. Cats are reserved in the manifestation of feelings, but they also have nothing against active games. The "British" will not behave aggressively, responding to the too persistent attention of the child, he will diplomatically move to a safer place.
Due to their calm nature, British cats are considered excellent companions. In care, they are unpretentious, and healthy genetics provide them with long life in complete harmony with the owners. However, you should pay attention to:
diet - it should be balanced and change with age, as animals become less active over the years.
prevention of gastrointestinal diseases - regularly gives preparations to dissolve wool. Every day, licking its “fur coat”, the cat eats a large amount of hairs that are not digested in the stomach and over time can cause serious health problems.
